The Palacios Beacon was established in 1907 and is published every Wednesday. It is the oldest continuous business operating under the same name in Palacios, Texas. It is located at 310 Fifth Street and serves the good folks of western Matagorda County and eastern Jackson County including Palacios, Collegeport, Blessing, Midfield, Markham, El Maton, Carancahua, Deutschburg, and Cape Carancahua.
The Palacios Beacon is a member of the Texas Press Association, South Texas Press Association, and the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association. The Palacios Beacon has won numerous first place awards in the Better Newspaper Contests of each of those associations, including News Coverage, General Excellence, Advertising, Sports, News Pictures, Sports Pictures and Feature Pictures.
